Retro LOVE Wall
This is a mural I created on a 30ft x 6ft wooden fence in Vista Mar, Los Angeles. My client wanted something that would not be too loud but eye catching at the same time. It is one of those pieces where the more you stare at it, the more you see the intricacy with the flow of the shapes.
The Process
My first step to creating this wall was to chalk out the outlines of all the shapes. In order to map out the correct proportions and any last minute changes. I think plotted out each shape and matched the color on my iPad on the app Procreate. While painting I made some last minute intuitive changes that I thought worked better with the flow of colors. I then zoned out for a day and ended up painting the whole fence!
The Design
The process in creating this design was completely organic. This was actually not the first design I had presented to my client, it was more of a new concept I was working with on my own. Though when I posted this design on my Instagram, my client immediately jumped on it and asked if I could do this instead. I have been doing this concept of organic and structured shapes as a young girl because it calmed me. It just made sense to me. Then as I got older I realized this is totally something! So ever since that realization, I have been playing around with this concept. I have been getting great response, and I think the reason why is because it simultaneously intrigues and calms the mind.
